George Natembeya: The Rising Threat to Raila’s ODM and Western Political Heavyweights

Image
Kenya’s political landscape is shifting  and at the center of this transformation is Governor George Natembeya, the outspoken Trans Nzoia boss who is fast emerging as the face and voice of the Mulembe Nation. For decades, the Western region has largely played second fiddle in national politics, often rallying behind Raila Odinga’s ODM, only to be left disappointed when power slips away. Raila’s dominance over the region has always been unquestionable, but the tide is turning. The once unshakable support for ODM in Western is fading away, and Natembeya is quickly filling the vacuum. Why Natembeya is a Threat to ODM ODM has always banked on Western Kenya as a crucial vote bloc, delivering huge numbers in every election. But the recent coronation of Natembeya as Mulembe spokesperson, coupled with his bold statements about self-determination and ending political dependency, has electrified the region. Natembeya speaks directly to the frustrations of the ordinary mwananchi  frustr...

Something is Weird About Litein Boys

Image
Litein Boys’ strike isn’t your ordinary high school unrest story. This one reads like a Netflix script. They burnt the school, cooked all the eggs, ate all the chickens, milked the cows, broke the safe and made away with 1 million shillings, walked off with the cows, drove the school bus and even went a step further  removed the engine. And if that wasn’t enough, they went to the boardroom, held a meeting there, and after all that chaos, they simply went home. Now pause. How long does it take to vandalize an Isuzu bus engine? What about holding meetings in the boardroom and milking cows? Let’s say roughly six hours. This wasn’t just vandalism this was coordinated. And it shows you one thing: those kids had a message, but no one listened. Pancakes, Strikes & Missed Football According to reports, Litein Boys literally turned their strike into a full “camp-out”: They made pancakes, Tried sneaking into a girls’ school, Broke into the bursar’s office, Smashed the safe and took...

Image
The just concluded UDA nominations in Malava Constituency have taken a dramatic twist after youthful aspirant Ryan Injendi, son of the late MP Malulu Injendi, conceded defeat but strongly accused Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi of interfering in the process. In a viral video making rounds on social media, Ryan openly conceded loss to David Ndakwa, who emerged victorious with over 6,000 votes. However, he alleged that his competitor’s win was manipulated with the backing of the Prime CS’s office. Ryan Injendi’s Bold Accusations Ryan claimed that Mudavadi, despite enjoying political support from his late father, turned his back on the family by interfering with the party primaries. According to him, votes were tampered with to favor Ndakwa, raising concerns over transparency in the exercise. “It is disappointing that the very person my father stood with is the one who betrayed us in Malava. The people’s will was overturned, and this is the biggest form of betrayal,” Ryan la...

David Ndakwa Clinches UDA Ticket for Malava By-Election

Image
The UDA party nominations for the Malava Constituency by-election were held yesterday, and the results are in. MCA David Ndakwa has officially clinched the UDA ticket after securing over 6,000 votes in the primaries. He was followed closely by Ryan Injendi, who garnered about 3,000 votes. Ryan, son of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi, had expressed interest in succeeding his father and carrying forward his legacy. Despite running a spirited campaign and winning the hearts of many, Ryan fell short against Ndakwa. This outcome now sets the stage for Ndakwa to represent UDA in the highly anticipated November 27 by-election. What Next After Nominations? With the primaries behind us, the focus now shifts to the main contest. While Ndakwa celebrates his win, several dynamics are already shaping the upcoming battle: Clan Politics at Play The Abasonje clan, which heavily backed Ryan, may not automatically rally behind Ndakwa. Their next move could determine the balance of power in Malava...

Unpopular Opinion: UDA Nominations Have Exposed Malava Aspirants

Image
The UDA party primaries in Malava Constituency have been a real eye opener, and unlike before, this year’s campaigns have truly exposed the aspirants. At the beginning, many dismissed Ryan Injendi as too young and inexperienced to lead. But over the weeks, he has proven critics wrong. His energy, aura, and zeal have stood out  traversing the constituency tirelessly, engaging voters directly, and showing that he is ready to take the mantle from his late father. In contrast, some of his competitors on the UDA nomination ticket are finding it increasingly difficult to connect with the real voters on the ground. Their campaigns appear less vibrant, and they’ve struggled to match Ryan’s visibility and momentum. Tomorrow marks the much-anticipated nomination day, and one thing is clear: Ryan has already convinced a huge section of Malava residents that he is a serious contender. Personally, I wish him the very best. And looking ahead, if he secures the UDA nomination ticket, it wouldn’t ...

Malava By-Election: The Seth Panyako Puzzle and DAP-K’s Gamble

Image
The Malava by-election has taken a dramatic turn after DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa officially handed the party ticket to Seth Panyako. While this should have been a moment of celebration for Panyako and his supporters, the reality is far more complicated. Panyako’s eligibility remains under a dark cloud. His case is already in court, and on top of that, he is still awaiting clearance from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). The crux of the petition against him is that Panyako failed to resign from his position as a board member of LAPFUND , a state corporation, within the legally required timeline.  The Office of the Attorney General has also confirmed that Panyako is indeed a public officer  a confirmation that could strengthen the case against him. Why the Rush by Eugene Wamalwa? It has been whispered in political circles  and even admitted in some quarters  that Eugene Wamalwa met with President William Ruto secretly before handing t...
