Malava By-Election: UDA Nominations Set for September 20th

The political heat in Malava Constituency is steadily rising as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) prepares to conduct its much-anticipated party nominations on 20th September 2025. The exercise will be closely watched, not only within Kakamega County but also across the country, as Malava has become a crucial battleground in the by-election.

UDA has attracted four aspirants, each commanding significant grassroots support from different regions of Malava:

1. Ndakwa – The West Kabras Candidate

Ndakwa is considered a strong contender with a solid support base in West Kabras. His backing from influential community leaders in the region could give him an edge during the primaries.

2. Ryan Injendi – The Heir to a Legacy

Ryan Injendi, son of the late MP, is vying to succeed his father. His campaign largely appeals to voters who want continuity and respect for the Injendi political legacy. Many view him as a sentimental favorite in the race.

3. Shimaka Wakili – South Kabras’ Choice

A respected legal mind, Shimaka Wakili enjoys vast support in South Kabras. His appeal as a professional and his grassroots engagement have made him one of the most talked-about candidates in the UDA race.

4. Mwalimu Kangwana – The Underrated Force

Though many may overlook him, Mwalimu Kangwana has quietly built a following that cannot be dismissed. His message of servant leadership and education-driven change resonates with many Malava voters, especially the youth and teachers.

The Stakes

With These candidates proper mobilisation, the primaries are expected to be hotly contested. Each aspirant brings a unique strength, making it difficult to predict who will carry the UDA flag into the by-election.

What’s clear, however, is that September 20th will be a defining day for Malava politics.

The outcome of the nominations could shape not only the by-election results but also the future of UDA in Kakamega and the wider Mulembe nation.
